Medieval Chianti

Ride across the scenic hills of the central part of Chianti, (also known as Chianti Classico for the production of the famous high quality red wine) passing ancient abbeys and picturesque fortified hamlets and castles. 

Enjoy the magic atmosphere of the ancient fortified abbey Badia a Passignano, founded by Saint Giovanni Gualberto during the 11th century inside a lombard castle.

Ride on the medieval paving inside the cozy medieval hamlet of Montefioralle, one of the tiniest and well preserved castles of Chianti.


Extended versions of the ride may include the Medieval Volpaia castle, (a sort of winery hamlet), the evocative Medieval fortified villages of the Chianti League - Radda, Castellina and Panzano - , (built and fortified by the Florentine Republic during the Medieval 300 years war against Siena), and many other highlights depending on the requested length of the ride and on the chosen bike tour version (gravel, road or mountain bike / mtn e-bike)


During this bike tour a stop for wine tasting and guided visit of a local winery cellars can be organized upon request, as well as a lunch stop in a local restaurant.


Starting point of the ride :  Greve in Chianti, at 45 minutes drive from Florence


Length of the ride :  your pick !!! choose between a minimum  of 30 km. to a maximum of 50 km. or more, depending on the bike tour version you prefer  - mountain bike (or mtn e-bike), gravel bike or road bike  -  and we’ll be happy to advise you the most suitable route for your requirements !!!
